Amway UK celebrates increase in sales following PR campaign success

Andy_SmithBased in Caldecotte, Amway’s head office PR team launched the campaign with the opening of its first ‘Flagship Experience Centre’ in Holborn, London in April 2009 which has resulted in over 5,000 visitors per month and where over 10% of sales are now generated. The company, who also celebrated a milestone 35th anniversary in Milton Keynes last year, utilises its training centre in Milton Keynes and the London store to train new ABOs.

Research results have shown that ABOs who are trained in Milton Keynes and the London centre are three times more productive in selling its diverse range of beauty, health and homeware products. The London Centre also boasts the ‘Style Bar’ hair salon, designed by international hair stylist John Gillespie, promoting Amway’s Satinique hair care range.

Amway UK: Ready to expand

Amway UK flagship storeAmway, the direct selling company, is looking to grow its operations in markets including the UK and is expected to launch its first consumer facing marketing campaign early next year.

As the main rival to Avon, Amway has opened its first retail store, situated in London. It is planning to make the UK a main focus for growth. The expansion plans for the US-based Alticor-owned company comes as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The London store stocks its entire product range which includes skincare, hair care, cosmetics, homeware, nutritional supplements and domestic cleaning products.

Amway UK wins against BERR appeal

The British subsidiary of multi-level marketing group Amway has fought off a renewed legal bid by the Government to close it down as a purveyor of "unachievable dreams".

Three Court of Appeal judges rejected a challenge by Business Secretary Lord Mandelson to a High Court judgment clearing Amway (UK) of allegations that it was running what amounted to an illegal lottery and unlawful trading scheme.

The High Court dismissed a winding-up petition brought "in the public interest" by the then Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, John Hutton, after Amway gave undertakings regarding the future conduct of its business.

On Thursday the appeal judges unanimously ruled against argument by Government lawyers that Amway should be wound up on the ground that its business was "inherently objectionable".

Amway's UK headquarters are located in Milton Keynes.
