Cindy Van Andel, wife of Amway Chairman, dies at age 57

Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel issued a brief statement Saturday night:

"I am saddened by the loss of my loving wife Cindy Van Andel. She passed away Friday evening after a brief illness. Cindy has been my friend, confidant and partner for almost 33 years of marriage. She was a warm and caring person who could light up an entire room just by her smile. Her heart went out to all she met and she will be greatly missed."

Friends may meet the family at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at 4231 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Amway a finalist in Corporate Citizenship Awards

Nutrilite Little BitsAmway was named as a finalist in the US Chamber of Commerce 2011 Corporate Citizenship Awards. The company was recognized in the Best International Ambassador category for it's Nutrilite Little Bits Program.

In many countries, children do not have access to essentials like safe water and enough food and nutrition to survive. Malnutrition is a significant contributor to child’s mortality and illness, and Amway has committed to using its expertise in nutrition to make a difference.

Amway and University of Tennessee Partnership Continues into 4th Year

University of TennesseeKNOXVILLE—Kelly Falter of Knoxville, Tennessee, is the winner of the 2011 Amway Endowed Scholarship in Sales Forecasting in the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Falter will receive $2,000. This is the scholarship’s fourth year.

In 2008, the college received a $50,000 endowment from Amway to support students who either study demand sales forecasting or who have a specific interest in a sales forecasting career.

Amway to open $21.7 million food manufacturing facility in Ada

Amway World Headquarters, Ada, MichiganADA TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN — A new $21.7 million advanced food manufacturing facility, the first on Amway Corp.’s Fulton Street site, is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2012.

The 119,000-square-foot facility, including laboratory space, will produce powdered drink mixes for Amway’s Nutrilite brand. Equipment for the plant, currently under construction, will come from a Riverside, Calif., facility where the products are now made, said Eric Van Dellen, Amway’s sustainability program manager.
