Operation Smile performs free surgeries

HA NOI — Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Hospital’s Operation Smile Viet Nam is providing free medical check-ups and surgery for more than 100 children born with cleft lips and palate deformities.

The offer, which is for children from Ha Noi and northern provinces, runs until Friday. This is the second Operation Smile mission sponsored by Amway Viet Nam. It follows an earlier mission in HCM City in August. Since it opened for business in Viet Nam, Amway has contributed VND2.4 billion (US$142,000) to fund various charity projects.

Next year, Amway Viet Nam and Operation Smile Viet Nam will provide another two missions for 200 children with cleft lips and palate deformities in HCM City and Can Tho Province.

Amway believes in a successful business in Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) – Amway Vietnam director How Kam Chiong is confident that his company, which is a branch of US Amway, will succeed in its business in the country.

Talking with a Vietnam News Agency reporter on September 15, the director said his belief is well-grounded, citing the local populous market with a large labour force, and the support of managing agencies and the legal system.

Direct selling was legalised in Vietnam in 2005 with the promulgation of the Competition Law. The Vietnamese government has also issued Decree 06/2008/ND-CP defining in details the responsibilities of businesses and individuals involving in the business, which How Kam Chiong described as “a strong legal foundation” for Amway’s operation in the country.
