Petaling Jaya - Amway (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is expanding its distribution channel with the opening of Amway Shops, bringing a brand new shopping experience for its 195,000 dsitributors nationwide and their customers.
The company recently opened its fifth Amway Shop, located in Parkcity Commercial Square, Bintulu, Sarawak. The opening was attended by 400 distributor leaders and employees.
Prior to Bintulu, Amway had opened four shops in 2008 - Seremban (Aug 2008), followed by Kuala Terengganu (Sept 2008), Kota Bharu (Sept 2008) and Batu Pahat (Oct 2008). All five Amway shops are strategically located in the town centres with easy accessibility and strong visibility.
According to Paul Yee, Amway Malaysia's General Manager: "The opening of the Amway shops expands Amway's geographical reach to new and strategic locations, in addition to enhancing distributors retailing and sponsoring efforts, and providing enhanced consumer access to Amway's range of products."
"The pick-and-pay concept offer our consumers the opportunity to see, touch and feel the range of products arranged on trendy yet functional merchandising displays", continued Yee.
Distributors can bring in their customers to freely browse and pick up products at their own convenience in a relaxing and conducive shopping environment. Staffed by five employees, the shops operate from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 9pm. The company plans to open three more shops in West Malaysia by the end of 2009, making a total of eight shops since the strategy begain in 2008.
Amway Malaysia currently offers over 250 different product ranges from its five major corelines and Personal Shoppers Catalogue. They are readily availble through 195,000 authorize Amway distributors nationwide. In addition to the five Amway Shops, the leading direct selling company currently operates 12 Regional Distribution Centres (RDC) in Malaysia and one in Brunei.
Amway is a subsidiary of Main Board-listed Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Berhad. Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Berhad posted a sales revenue of RM645.5 million for its financial year ended 31 December 2008.

Amway is the latest in a string of recent new business wins for Ogilvy Malaysia. Amway was awarded to Ogilvy after a 3-way pitch. Ogilvy also recently picked up Hard Rock Hotel, KDU College, Sunrise, DUKE, Kechara as well as retail projects with Colgate Palmolive.
KUALA LUMPUR: Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Bhd posted a net profit of RM30.48 million for the third quarter (3Q) ended Sept 30, 2008, up 16% from RM26.32 million a year earlier, on higher sales.
