Retailers report that people are rushing to buy water purification machines due to fears of a drinking water shortage and low quality tap water during the flood in Thailand
Amway (Thailand) marketing director Ratana Channara said Wednesday sales of eSpring water purifiers had doubled to 10,000 machines a month from the previous 4,500 machines a month.
"Many customers are worried about the shortage of drinking water in the market and the quality of tap water," Mrs Ratana said.
The company expected the sales of its water purifiers to exceed 1.9 billion baht target this year, she said.
Woongjin Coway (Thailand), a health and environment company that produces water and air purifiers, said the sales of its water purifiers rose by 100 per cent in the past month, attributing it to the great flood.
