Amway India registers 39% growth in Northeast

Amway_Dimapur_107508313Kohima, November 3 (MExN): Amway India Enterprises Pvt. Ltd has registered a 39 % growth in the Northeast in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2009. Amway India recorded a sales-turnover of Rs. 55.1 crore in northeast during 2008 and Nagaland at Rs. 7.43 crore during  2008. Amway India also paid taxes to the tune of Rs. 6. 34 crore in Northeast in 2008 and to the state exchequer of Nagaland, Rs. 8.9 lakh.

“Northeast, contributing a sizeable chunk of our turnover for eastern India, has witnessed 39% growth in sales during January to September 2009 over the corresponding period last year,” said Diptarag Bhattacharjee, vice president, Eastern region, Amway India during  a press conference here.

Amway Thailand predicts 15% growth in Nutrilite sales for 2009

nutriliteAmway (Thailand) Co, the country's largest direct sales company, projects its Nutrilite food supplement business will grow at least 15% to 4.8 billion baht in sales this year as the health trend is still popular among Thais.

Marketing director Ratana Channara said the fact that more Thais are taking care of their health will drive strong growth in the local food supplement market. Nutrilite sales were solid even during the economic slowdown.

Amway Thailand reconstructs 133 smiles

The 12th mission under “One by One: Operation Smile” project provided surgical treatment to kids with cleft lips and cleft palates in Yasothon and nearby provinces.          This year, Amway for Thai Society Foundation allocated 1.5 million baht as financial support for the project. The Foundation also formed a sizable team of volunteers that comprised Amway Business Owners, Amway staff, physicians, and nurses. The mission was completed today, giving surgical treatment to a total of 133 children with cleft lips and cleft palates.

Amway India set to open showrooms

amwayindialogoAda (Michigan), July 19: Amway is reworking its direct sale strategy in India to get closer to consumers.

The wellness, beauty and homecare products firm, which expects a quantum jump in sales in India, is planning to turn its 54 distribution centres into showrooms to give consumers a first-hand experience.

So far, direct selling agents went to the consumers’ homes and sold the Amway products.

As a company that pioneered direct sales, Amway did not have a brick-and-mortar presence.

Amway Malaysia Opens Fifth Store

Amway_Shop_MalaysiaPetaling Jaya - Amway (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is expanding its distribution channel with the opening of Amway Shops, bringing a brand new shopping experience for its 195,000 dsitributors nationwide and their customers.

The company recently opened its fifth Amway Shop, located in Parkcity Commercial Square, Bintulu, Sarawak. The opening was attended by 400 distributor leaders and employees.

Prior to Bintulu, Amway had opened four shops in 2008 - Seremban (Aug 2008), followed by Kuala Terengganu (Sept 2008), Kota Bharu (Sept 2008) and Batu Pahat (Oct 2008). All five Amway shops are strategically located in the town centres with easy accessibility and strong visibility.

According to Paul Yee, Amway Malaysia's General Manager: "The opening of the Amway shops expands Amway's geographical reach to new and strategic locations, in addition to enhancing distributors retailing and sponsoring efforts, and providing enhanced consumer access to Amway's range of products."

"The pick-and-pay concept offer our consumers the opportunity to see, touch and feel the range of products arranged on trendy yet functional merchandising displays", continued Yee.

Distributors can bring in their customers to freely browse and pick up products at their own convenience in a relaxing and conducive shopping environment. Staffed by five employees, the shops operate from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 9pm. The company plans to open three more shops in West Malaysia by the end of 2009, making a total of eight shops since the strategy begain in 2008.

Amway Malaysia currently offers over 250 different product ranges from its five major corelines and Personal Shoppers Catalogue. They are readily availble through 195,000 authorize Amway distributors nationwide. In addition to the five Amway Shops, the leading direct selling company currently operates 12 Regional Distribution Centres (RDC) in Malaysia and one in Brunei.

Amway is a subsidiary of Main Board-listed Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Berhad. Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Berhad posted a sales revenue of RM645.5 million for its financial year ended 31 December 2008.

TBWA picks up Nutrilite creative brief

nutriliteimageSEOUL - Amway South Korea has appointed TBWA to handle the creative account for its Nutrilite brand in Korea after a competitive pitch that included incumbent Phoenix Communications and Welcomm Publicis.

The company is reportedly looking to reinvigorate Nutrilite, a health supplement that accounts for around 40 per cent of its sales in the market.

According to Kyungwoo Nam, general manager of TBWAKorea, the appointment will see the agency act as a “brand partner” rather than a “task-driven supplier”.

The account is understood to be worth an estimated US$3.5 million. The first campaign under the new partnership is due to roll out in September.

Ogilivy lands Amway Malaysia Account

Ogilvy LogoAmway is the latest in a string of recent new business wins for Ogilvy Malaysia. Amway was awarded to Ogilvy after a 3-way pitch. Ogilvy also recently picked up Hard Rock Hotel, KDU College, Sunrise, DUKE, Kechara as well as retail projects with Colgate Palmolive.

Saatchi & Saatchi win Amway China advertising account

Saatchi & SaatchiAmway China has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi, won of the world's largest advertising agencies, to handle its Nutrilite health food range, including its flagship supplement brand, Double X.  Saatchi & Saatchi won through in a four way pitch against other leading 4A’s agencies.  The incumbent was Ogilvy & Mather China.

Amway entered China in 1992, headquartered in Guangzhou and with one of the largest maunfacturing plants built outside of the US.  Their combined strategy of strong retail focus, consumer advertising and well-established sales representative system took total sales to more than 8.2 billion US dollars by end of 2008, with double digit growth.

Amway's corporate vision is to help people live better lives, along with a "Think global, Act local" viewpoint, both values which are shared by Saatchi & Saatchi Guangzhou.

Amway to invest $37million in India

Amway IndiaAmway, the direct selling FMCG firm, has said it plans to invest around Rs.1.85bn ($37m) over the next three years in India, confirming its interest in the local market. The company said the money will be used to acquire land for its headquarters in the National Capital Region, as well as for opening branches in other cities.

The headquarters will require an investment of around Rs1.0bn-1.5bn, and the five to eight branches it plans to open will require an investment of about Rs.2.0bn-4.0bn each. The company presently has 127 offices and pick-up centres across India, as well as 55 warehouses.

Amway is also expanding its product offers in India, and said it aims to reach sales growth of Rs.25bn ($500m) by the fiscal year ending March 2013.
