"A Plane of Friendship" event for disabled children in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia

In April, as part of the joint Amway – UNICEF "Inclusive Education" project, aimed at setting up two inclusive schools in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia, a special event "A Plane of Friendship" was held.
The goal of this event was to team up children with disabilities and their peers without disabilities in a competition to fly paper planes.
The "A Plane of Friendship" event was held among students of schools participating in the project "Setting up inclusive schools in Ulan-Ude", as well as disabled children. The event included children with disabilities, that were already attending specialized schools and correctional institutions, as well as disabled children who were not get any education at all. In total, 150 children took part in the event. The children divided into 10 teams with an equal number of children with disabilities and without in each team. During the competition, children had to make small planes out of color paper, with the name of their team as well as their wishes on them. After that, in competition with other teams, a representative from each team had to fly their plane as far as possible. The winner was the team whose plane flew the furthest distance.
After the competition the teams that won were awarded with special prizes.
The event was organized by the Regional Public Fund of Creating Non-barrier environment, which implements the inclusive education project in Buryatia.
